Driver fails to stop after hitting cyclist with wing mirror

A local cyclist is hoping for justice after being involved in a hit and run.

At the beginning of July, John McClafferty was cycling on Fisher's Hill towards Port Erin, when he got clipped by a van.

The driver, who Mr McClafferty says was travelling between 60-70mph, failed to stop after the van's wing mirror hit his right arm.  

It resulted in surgery for the cyclist and three months off work, which has lead to the cyclist, a carpenter by trade, having to live off his life savings.

He says most drivers share the road respectfully:
