Manx marine biologist key to Gov't anti-plastic plan

A marine scientist says she is 'motivated' to drive an anti-plastic message when she returns to Isle of Man.  

Following her work at the North Pacific Garbage Patch, Rowan Henthorn supports the government announcement to cut the amount of single-use plastics.

Environment Minister Geoffrey Boot, will next week ask Tynwald to back plans to cut the amount of the material used across departments.

Before embarking on the Pacific expedition, Rowan worked for DEFA advising them of the impacts of ocean pollutants.

While at sea, she has been researching the effects of marine plastic aboard the citizen science vessel Sea Dragon, which is currently a three day sail out from Vancouver.
