Leakiest league defence to meet most potent attack
After a heavy defeat in midweek, FC Isle of Man face the challenge of lifting themselves again when they head to Pilkington in the NWCFL Premier Division tomorrow (20 September).
The Manx side head to St Helens currently second-from-bottom in the table and up against an opponent which is the highest-scoring team in the league so far.
After today's match, FC Isle of Man will be conducting a review of the season to date, something Manager, Paul Jones says is normal procedure at this point in the campaign.
When asked about some the scrutiny his team might be under right now, Jones adds they want to turn that 'noise' into something more positive going forward:
Despite proving to be competitive for more than 70 minutes at AFC Liverpool in midweek, a second-half collapse to a 5-1 loss means 'The Ravens' have now let in 36 goals in the league to now, meaning they maintain the unwanted status of having the leakiest defence in the NWCFL Premier Division at this moment in time.
However, should Jones' side produce a strong response and collect three points across the water on Saturday, it could lift FC Isle of Man as many as four places higher up the table depending on results elsewhere.
On paper though, the Islanders' could be in for a tough time against the most potent attack in the league right now with Pilkington having netted 27 times in their first 11 games.
A win for Jake Edwards' side could see them move into the top five, again depending on how other fixtures go across Saturday.
Both Pilkington and FC Isle of Man put on entertaining encounters when they met in the league last season with both matches between them ending in 3-3 draws.
Pilkington vs FC Isle of Man kicks-off at the PSD Stadium tomorrow at 3pm.
